What to look for when you are shopping for a television

There are certain crucial details that you ought to think over before you shop for a replacement TV. Choosing the type of screen is the first decision and you will need to select an LED, Plasma or an LCD screen. All three of the screen technologies come with certain strengths and so you will have to select the one which fulfills your viewing needs.

You can choose between 2 type of HDTV resolution. The two levels of screen resolution are 720p and 1080p. When you go to the store you need to check the specifications to know whether the model you are interested in is 720p or 1080p. The correct specification for a Full HD TV playing 1080p is HD Ready 1080p and for a 720p set the correct spec is HD Ready.

The corresponding pixel sizing of those two are 1920 x 1080 for a 1080p and 1366 x 768 for a 720p. The difference between the two is that the 1080p set is the one which supports what is known as Full HD. This is the highest resolution and is used by Blu-ray, games consoles and some content such as movie trailers you may download from the web. The lower resolution of 720p is the resolution that the HD content provided by television broadcasters is shown in. A 720p resolution television will be suitable for viewers who mostly watch TV shows in HD. Choosing a 1080p screen is most suited for gamers or people who watch Blu-ray with a 1080p player.

The sets with the higher resolution will of course cost more so you need to consider your budget too. Be aware that the distance from TV to the viewing area and the screen size are relevant too. If you sit further away from your television for example then you will see no difference in the higher definition set. You will still get a higher quality of picture which a more pricey model though due to other included features.

Many buyers opt for the screen size of 32 inches making the Panasonic LCD TV 32 a top seller. These 32 inch LCD sets can provide great value for money as the newer LED TV’s are still fairly expensive and they do not make Plasma screens at that size. If you want a Plasma screen TV then you will be looking at a minimum screen size of 37 inches.

For a price of under £300 you can pick up an LCD screen with a size of 32 inches. However, if you want a bigger viewing platform then a Plasma screen of 50 inches can be purchased for under £700!
