Hunt for a home (part 2)
We were looking at different areas of the same paper – I was staring at the period properties and she at the new houses. Somewhere all the way we would have to reach a compromise, otherwise our day would be wasted.
There may be a third route to try, one that could let us move temporarily without the permanent pressure. If we rented, so the idea went, it would get us away from the big city and give us the opportunity to search at our leisure. We both agreed that the idea could have some mileage, so we concentrated our efforts within the section over the page called Property to let West Sussex. The area covered was quite substantial, a good deal wider than I had thought. But if we could find something with easy access to the main railway line, I would still be able to get to work.
We were even prepared to look for a flat, if it offered us the right amount of space, as we werent particularly driven by parking space problems. The newspaper showed that the town had a poor section on flats to rent in Sussex, which surprised me. I had always imagined because of the location near the seaside and the tradition, there would be no shortage of potential flats. What I might consider doing is checking online for possibilities, or even advertising on websites such as Gumtree.
Although this seemed a sensible route to take, I wasnt going to give up easily on my dream of a little Victorian terrace house. The prices seemed quite reasonable compared with resorts like Brighton and Hove, which had gone through the roof in recent times. My search was going to continue so I made a quick note of some of the local phone number for Estate agents sussex. I decided that I would look at these again later when the day was done and we had time to reflect on our experiences.
